Taranaki, Te Arawa, Tainui


Te Hira is 24, and hails from the west coast of Aotearoa from a small township called Waitara in Taranaki.  He attended boarding school at New Plymouth Boys High School from 1999-2003. The highlight of his schooling years culminated in being selected as the first Maori Head Boy in 2003.  After successfully completing his Bursary and University Entrance, Te Hira took a year off in 2004 to do a GAP year and travel the world.  This enabled him to broaden his social horizons and cultural understanding of our diverse world. 

Returning 'downunder', Te Hira established his base in Melbourne alongside whanau.  He commenced his degree at the University of Melbourne in 2004 studying a Bachelor of Law.  In 2007 he accepted an International Exchange and attended the University of Nottingham in England for one semester.  Successfully completing his degree, Te Hira graduated in 2009. 

He is currently undergoing his law articles clerkship to attain a Diploma of Practical Legal Training.  Currently employed at a large telecommunication company working as a junior legal counsel. Te Hira aspires to working in the litigation area of the legal industry. Ultimately, he hopes to travel and work around the world sharing his skills, tikanga and culture.
